Residential Landscape Contractor Product Specialist-North
Job Summary:
The Residential Landscape Contractor Product Specialist is responsible for developing new business and growing existing business in an assigned territory including Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Kentucky while providing a high level of service to our customers. This position will be based in Ohio and requires strong communication skills, in-depth product knowledge, and a demonstrated ability to build strong, long-term relationships with customers. This individual will work with customers in a consultive and professional manner. The position interfaces directly with the accounts’ key decision makers and their staff to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their business. This position is best suited for individuals with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, as required.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Grow sales and overall market share by developing and implementing effective territory business plans to achieve territory goals and objectives.
- Establish, develop, and maintain strong professional business relationships with customers.
- Develop good working relationships with manufacturers and sales reps.
- Assist Management in planning and developing strategies to improve sales and overall market share, customer relations, productivity, profitability, and our overall business goals.
- Identify underachieving markets and implement strategies to grow sales and market share.
- Cold call on landscape contractor prospects and assist in new dealer product training.
- Actively participate in corporate sales meetings, strategic planning sessions, training sessions, and trade shows.
- Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction through in-depth knowledge of dealer business, staff, and products.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of products and services you are representing.
- Actively call on customers to discover sales opportunities in an effort to grow contractor fleet sales and governmental bids.
- Sell, promote, and address designated products and services through face-to-face interaction or phone calls.
- Effectively communicate and follow up with customers and JPTI staff via phone or email in a timely fashion (within 24 hrs.).
- Assist customers in identifying promotional opportunities.
- Submit appropriate paperwork (sales reports, expense reports) in a timely fashion.
- Maintain the company vehicle maintenance schedule and cleanliness of vehicle.
- Maintain a designated demo fleet of products.
- Must be able to occasionally lift/move heavy objects.
- Must adhere to company expenses not to exceed budgets set by the Department Manager.
- Adhere to on-the-job safety practices and company rules and policies.
- Must be able to drive a vehicle extensively as travel by vehicle is approximately 50% of the time.
- Must have the ability and willingness to travel with multiple overnight stays via airplane, car, or other appropriate means of transportation for business-related purposes. This includes but may not be limited to facility and field visits, vendor visits, continued education, and other business-related activities.
- All other duties assigned by Department Manager, Corporate Management, or Company Management.

- Ability to demonstrate equipment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, coupled with ability to influence as well as instruct.
